Game Notes

The Riverhawks fell short against Regional & Conference opponent Owls of Prince George's Community College this past Tuesday afternoon (3/27), with the high-scoring, heavy home run bout finishing in favor of the Owls, 15-8.

Leading off with a walk for Tony Davis (Waldorf, MD/North Point) followed up by a single from Samuel Ryan (Pasadena, MD) – the Riverhawks had two men on with no outs. Christopher Clyde (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) would step up and crush a homer out through center field, earning AACC the early 3-0 lead.

Closing out the top of the 1st, PGCC gave the Riverhawks little time to enjoy their lead as just moments after scoring 1 run to put them on the board, the Owls then answered with a 3-run homer of their own – now claiming the lead, 4-3.

Scoreless in the second and third inning, the Riverhawks struggled to stop the Owls from scoring four of their own, facing a 5 run deficit and now trailing 8-3 heading into the 4th. Hit and a walk by Dustin Gosnell (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) and Thomas McNamara (Severna Park, MD/Chesapeake), allowed for Davis and Ryan to drive in a couple runs for AACC, to cut their deficit down to 3. But unfortunately for the Riverhawks, the Owls once again would respond – answering with 3 runs, and another home run to jump the score, 11-5, after four innings.

AACC would battle their way at the plate and Christopher Wiley (Upper Marlboro,MD/Southern) would help out Nathan Simmons (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) on the mound, but the Owls seemed to maintain their consistency in answering any Riverhawk efforts. Sam Ryan would homer in the top of the 6th but the Owls answered back quickly with 3 more runs.

With another run scored in the 8th for the Owls, and a scoreless 9th for the Riverhawks – Prince George's Community College would earn the 15-8 win over AACC.
