The Riverhawk men's baseball team picked up two more conference and regional wins this past Sunday (3/25), with a sweep over the Lakers of Garrett College.

Game 1 Notes

Dustin Gosnell (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) would start on the mound for the Riverhawks in game one of the double header. Keeping the Lakers scoreless in the 1st, the Riverhawks would jump out to an early 2-0 lead with hits by Tony Davis (Waldorf, MD/North Point), Samuel Ryan (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake), and Lucas Boulter (Laurel, MD/Meade) commanding the way.

With Gosnell on the mound and his Riverhawks continuing their concrete performance in the field and at the plate – AACC would hold a 10-3 lead over Garrett as they headed into the 7th. With Dominic Stanbery (Dunkirk, MD/Northern) now controlling the mound for the Riverhawks, AACC would secure their 10-3 victory for game 1.

Game 2 Notes

John Iaquinta (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) would start as pitcher for game two of the regional and conference double-header. With Iaquinta pitching beautifully on the mound for the Riverhawks, AACC would slowly get themselves to a 4-1 after 6 innings.

Relieving Iaquinta after 6.2 innings and the score at 4-1, Ryan Richardson (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) would look to close out the day for the Riverhawks. With some aggressive hitting and base running paired with a questionable play to first base, the Lakers were able to sneak 3 more runs in before AACC would close out the inning.

With game tied and each team unable to score, the game continued into the bottom of the 9th. With a hit by Brady Ward (Odenton, MD/Arundel) who would advance to second on a wild pitch, the Riverhawks were set up nicely to end the game. Leonard Lehner (Edgewater, MD/South River) would step up with his RBI single to score Ward and earn the sweep for the Riverhawks. AACC would take game two, 5-4, after 9 innings.
