Men’s Basketball Hosts Anne Arundel For Divisional Showdown

The Prince George's Community College men's basketball team returns home to Novak Field House on Friday night, November 19th to host Region 20 Division III opponent Anne Arundel Community College. Friday's game features the reigning Region 20 Division III champions in Anne Arundel who beat the Owls in 2020 to claim the region title.

Owls Head coach William West is looking to avenge the loss which ended the Owls 2019-20 season as region runner-up. After a full year away from basketball due to COVID-19, both teams enter Friday's matchup with a 2-2 record.  The Riverhawks are coming off a 78-72 win over McDaniel College's JV team on Monday while the Owls are looking to get back in the win column after their 95-83 loss to Cecil College on the road this past Saturday.

The Owls appear to have the advantage as they're averaging over 81 points per game, as compared to the Riverhawks 66. Prince George's is also shooting a much higher percentage from beyond the arc (33%) and free throw line (79%), than the Riverhawks who are currently hitting on just 18% of their shots from the three-point mark and 56% from the charity stripe.

Despite the differences on paper, Coach West knows how important each region division game can be and will refuse to overlook Anne Arundel as the two programs battle for the first time since the region title game nearly two years ago.

Friday's start time is scheduled for 7 PM or approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game prior.

Those planning to attend Friday's game must purchase a ticket online and present their receipt along with a copy of their COVID-19 vaccine card to enter. Prince George's Community College students, staff, and faculty do not require a ticket but must present a current college ID. All spectators must comply with all COVID-19 protocols in place. Current Novak Field House protocols can be found here. A link to purchase tickets can be found at the bottom of the page or users can visit the ticketing page directly with the attached link
