Riverhawks Mascot Casts Vote for a Name!

Riverhawks Mascot Casts Vote for a Name!

A free barbecue was held Wednesday, Aug. 26 at noon on the Quad as part of Welcome Week to celebrate the first week of school. Students were treated to an appearance by the new Riverhawks mascot and free hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, nachos, and Kona Ice.

AACC Student Government Association President Annalisa Hite manned the collection box for suggestions for a name for our new Riverhawks mascot. Look for more information about the naming process to follow.

If you missed the barbecue there are still activities going on the rest of the week including Make Your Own Sundaes on Thursday, Aug 27 at noon in the Dining Hall, and a Foam Dance Party at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug 28 at the Quad.

Don’t forget to come out and cheer for the inaugural Riverhawks teams this semester. Men and women’s soccer have their home openers Saturday, Aug. 29 with the men’s kickoff at 10 a.m. vs. Union County College, N.J. and our sixth-ranked women follow at noon in a match with Onondaga Community College, N.Y. Both are division games.

The first home volleyball game is Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. vs. Chesapeake College. Check the composite calendar for upcoming games.
